Progressive quote for Evo X: $470 and change a month

Progressive quote on FRS: $293.40

Progressive quote on BRZ: $273.09

How does that make sense? (All vehicles leased, insurance plans not changed per vehicle)

The Evo is extremely quick compared to the FR-S and BRZ, so there’s your main reason.

I suspect younger, and therefore, higher risk drivers, get the FR-S compared to the BRZ (the FR-S is cheaper), so rates are higher, as well as being associated with the Scion brand.

All three are pretty high risk reckless youth type cars. People who buy the FRS are more likely to crash it than the BRZ. Makes sense since it’s less expensive, so more easily afforded by reckless youths. Evo X should be pretty self explanatory, high risk AS FUCK.

I’ve concluded long ago that insurance doesn’t make any sense.

What they charge has a vague connection to your driving history, demographics, claims, theft and safety experience... tied in with your location. But I believe there’s a big amount of “making it up as we go along” behind the scenes.

And the net result is you have asinine things like different rates for a BRZ vs an FRS.

It’s similar to how the BRZ is actually holding its value better.

The name scion has an association with teens and somewhat dumb young drivers.

Subaru makes some of the safest cars on the road. Driven by hippies and tree huggers.

They don’t consider the fact that they are identical cars with a little change in a badge.

Believe me when I tell you it isn’t just the quotes that make no sense. I am a claims adjuster and can tell you what you may get paid on a claim is different in each state due to certain state rules on liability. It’s just beyond me.

When I got my Abarth State Farm didn’t have subcategories for the new Fiat trim options - it (supposedly) insured at the same rate as a Pop. With full coverage I’m paying about twice what I paid for a 15-year-old Civic that didn't have comprehensive/collision.

I noticed no one had a sub category for the Abarth on their sites so it was just a regular 500. I checked some forums and people had insurance rates all over the place

There wasn’t even an option for a 2012 Fiat (make). I’m pretty sure it’s listed on my policy as a Chrysler Fiat.

I think the lowest option I found was $67/month but due to home insurance I didn’t take that one. Granted I’m in a cheaper category and location than you :)
